Mumbai: BJP's  newly formed government in  Maharashtra will hold its first ever cabinet meeting today. The cabinet will decide on a date for the special Assembly session for seeking trust vote.

The new CM of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis has got 15 days time altogether to prove his government's majority in the 288-member House. The  BJP  has got 121 members in the house. However, it claims of having support of all seven independents and smaller parties.

The Nationalist Congress Party with 41 MLAs has also declared unconditional outside support to the BJP.

In the cabinet meeting, presentations will be shared on Finance, Home, Energy and Agriculture on status of projects, pending projects and other policy matters.

For the time being, there has been no clarity over the party BJP will have post-poll alliance with. The BJP has left both Shiv Sena and NCP guessing on the issue.

Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray had also attended swearing-in ceremony of Devendra Fadnavis. The development came soon after he was assured that his party will also representation  in the government.

According to the sources, if the Sena did not find a place in the government, then it is most likely to sit in the opposition.  The decision to sit in opposition  could impact the very survival of Sena as a party, according to some political commentators.
