1. Son of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi is currently the Vice – President of the Indian National Congress.
Gandhi was appointed General Secretary of the All India Congress Committee on 24th September, 2007 in a reshuffle of the party secretariat.
That very year, he was also given charge of the Indian Youth Congress and the National Students Union of India.
As Rahul's participation in politics was received well by the people and party members his position was further elevated.
On 19th January 2013, Rahul Gandhi formally took charge as Vice- President of the Congress party. He was given this post at the party's Jaipur conclave.
As vice-president, he is second only to party President and his mother Sonia Gandhi.
