Hyderabad: Sharpening its attack on Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao in connection with alleged illegal tapping of phone of his Andhra Pradesh counterpart N Chandrababu Naidu in the cash-for-vote scam, the state government today said they had enough evidence to "nail" Rao which could "uproot" the TRS-led government.
Addressing reporters here, Andhra Pradesh agriculture minister P Pulla Rao said they have enough evidence to "nail" Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao on the phone tapping issue which may "uproot" the TRS government.
"(AP CM) Chandrababu Naidu need not worry even if the Telangana ACB issues any notices in the cash-for-vote case. There are 87 cases filed against KCR (K Chandrasekhar Rao). They will be investigated by the SIT. There is another inquiry going on (against Telangana CM) by CID in a threatening case,"
Pulla Rao said referring to the case filed last week against the Telangana CM by Jerusalem Muthaiah, one of the accused in the cash-for-vote case.
"We have solid evidence that pones (of AP CM) were tapped. If we reveal those evidences, the Telangana Government will collapse," Pulla Rao said.
He said the Telangana ACB lacked jurisdiction to issue notices to Naidu.
"The cash-for-vote case is election-related issue and the Election Commission should act on that but not
ACB."
Meanwhile, another minister in Naidu's cabinet, Achen Naidu has accused Telangana Government of snatching Governor's powers regarding section 8 of AP reorganisation Act 2014.
Achen Naidu said if situation warranted they would not hesitate in setting up AP government police stations in the common capital of Hyderabad.
The Andhra Pradesh police had registered a case against the Telangana CM over the alleged illegal tapping of phones of his Andhra Pradesh counterpart Chandrababu Naidu.
The case was registered in the wake of local media airing an audio recording of a purported conversation Naidu had with a nominated legislator seeking his vote in the Legislative Council elections.
AP government has already dubbed the tapes as "fabricated" and said the government was taking the matter seriously.
Meanwhile, YSR Congress, led by YS Jaganmohan Reddy, today sought resignation of Naidu in the wake of developments in the cash-for-vote case. "The charges are levelled against TDP president Chandrababu Naidu and he has no moral right to continue as chief minister," YSR Congress spokesperson Vasireddy Padma told reporters here.
It is time for Naidu to quit from the office of the Chief Minister as he can influence people in the case as he also is the president of TDP, she added.
Meanwhile, AP DGP J V Ramudu today met Governor E S L Narasimhan a few hours after his Telangana counterpart Anurag Sharma met the Governor.
Earlier in the day, Telangana ACB chief A K Khan called on chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and apprised him of the situation.
