Kolkata: Accusing BJP government at the Centre of creating an emergency-like situation in the country, CPI-M general secretary Sitaram Yechury today alleged that the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) is actually controlling it.
"Earlier, Narendra Modi during election campaigns used to accuse Manmohan Singh government of being remote controlled by Sonia Gandhi. But in BJP regime we can see that RSS is not remote controlling but actually controlling the government at the Centre," Mr Yechury told a seminar in Kolkata.
He also mocked BJP for being elated over praise by RSS on governance.
"It is RSS which is giving marks to BJP ministers ... We had seen few days back how BJP ministers including the Prime Minister went to RSS meeting to report on the working of various ministries and RSS is praising the government and giving them marks. The RSS is setting the agenda for the government and various ministries," Mr Yechury said.
"The Modi government is slowly trying to create an emergency like situation. They are trying to break the communal harmony of the country by pitching one religion against other and one community against another," he added.
