Kolkata, Aug 21:  West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today claimed that within three months of coming to power in the state, nearly 80,000 jobs had been created in the government alone.

“After coming to power three months back, we have created 80,000 jobs in the state government alone,” Banerjee said at the foundation stone-laying ceremony of an IT park developed by TCG Real Estate here today.

She said that during the course of one year, 2.31 lakh more jobs would be created in the state.

Banerjee said that the government was against strikes and bandhs taking place in the IT sector and that it had great potential as the state government was poised to use this in all departments using e-governance.

The chief minister said that industrialists from the state and outside were showing interest in coming here.

She said that the state government would send business delegations abroad to attract investments.

Banerjee also urged Nabadiganta Industrial Authority to beautify Sector Five electronics complex in Salt Lake.

TCG Real Estate would invest Rs 450 crore to build two 17-storeyed towers where 10,000 people can work and would have a space of one million square feet.

Banerjee said that the single-window clearance of West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation (WBIDC) would be further streamlined. PTI
