New Delhi: The Election Commission on Wednesday cancelled the notification for by-election in three assembly constituencies in Delhi following the dissolution of the state assembly.
The Election Commission had on October 25 announced that Mehrauli, Tughlakabad and Krishna Nagar would go to the polls Nov 25. BJP legislators from the three places were elected to the Lok Sabha in May.
This has come after LG Nejeeb Jung's recommendation to the President to dissolve the Delhi Assembly as no party -- BJP, AAP, Congress -- agreed to form government in the which state.
The President Rule was imposed in Delhi in February this after immediate resignation of CM Arvind Kejriwal.
Meanwhile, the President has approved the Union Cabinet's yesterday decision to dissolve the Delhi Assembly. A copy of decision will now be forwarded to the Election Commission via MHA.
