Chennai: DMK president Karunanidhi today lambasted Tamil Nadu Governor K Rosaiah for stating that law and order was fine in the state and said that the Union government was duty bound to comment on the situation.
“Our Governor has lauded the law and order situation. Only those above him in position are duty bound to comment on the law and order in Tamil Nadu. Not only are they duty bound, they are also responsible (for it),” he said in a statement here.
Rosaiah said had told an English daily yesterday that the law and order situation was “fine” in the state. “It is fine, and everything is normal,” he had told the daily in Tiruchirapalli on the law and order situation in Tamil Nadu after the conviction of AIADMK general secretary Jayalalithaa.
He, however, had declined to comment further on the charges by opposition parties that the official machinery had failed to work properly.
After listing many incidents of crime reported in Tamil Nadu yesterday, including the alleged killing of a youth by a Sub-Inspector in Ramanathapuram, Karunanidhi asked “all of these happened in a single day and the Governor says law and order is fine...what is the prize (also meaning gift) for this appreciation?”
