Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J.Jayalalithaa Saturday charged DMK president M.Karunanidhi with betraying the interests of the state by his party's support to the Food Security Bill.

In a statement issued here, Jayalalithaa said: "Like reducing the kerosene allocation to Tamil Nadu from 59,780 kilo litres in 2010 to 29,060 kilo litres, now the centre can reduce the allocation of rice and also increase the issue price if necessary provisions are not there in the law."

She said the Food Security Bill does not have any provision for the price at which the rice would be supplied to the states by the central government and still DMK voted in support of the bill.

According to her, nobody will accept the oral assurances on the freezing the issue price of rice.

Those items which are not part of the law can be changed by the central government by an announcement and only those aspects provided in the law can by changed by moving an amendment in the parliament.

Jayalalithaa said the AIADMK members shouted 'No' when the bill was put for voice vote.
