Chennai: DMK President M Karunanidhi yesterday accused the AIADMK government of not taking any progressive step for the development of the state and asserted that only his party can take it back to its glorious days. “If you ask, is there a government in Tamil Nadu? The answer is no. Is there any Chief Minister in Tamil Nadu? No. If you ask whether the Central government will help?
We don't know. Is there any legal provision to get direct help from Centre? The answer is no,” he told a public meeting organised by the DMK's women's wing at Padappai near here.
The 91-year-old former chief minister said, “For every thing, it (the State) is looking at neighbouring states for support. But neighbouring states have developed far better than us. The only power is with the DMK which can take the State back to its glorious days.”
There were parties which has ‘Dravida' in their name but without any meaning to it, Karunanidhi said and added, “We all should go together towards a movement which will work for the poor and downtrodden in a democratic country. And only that movement will bring a change in the state. DMK has the power to bring that movement.”
