New Delhi: The power distribution companies in the capital will have to pay fine to their consumers for long power cuts, the Delhi government said on Wednesday.
The government has asked the Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission to slap fine against power discoms for power cuts beyond an hour.
"They will have to restore electricity within an hour of power cut. For the first two hours of power cut, they will have to pay Rs.50 to their consumers and Rs.100 for every hour beyond that," Power Minister Satyendra Jain said.
"We have asked the DERC to ensure that it is implemented," he added.Jain also said that discoms would have to intimate their consumers 15 days before any planned electricity-cuts.
