New Delhi: Congress general secretary Digvijaya Singh has married Rajya Sabha TV anchor Amrita Rai.
According to sources, the former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister who is in US at present tied the knot with Rai in Chennai last month.
Rai also confirmed the news, "I would like to share with my friends that I and Digvijaya Singh have married in a solemn ceremony, as per the Hindu rites. We have also later registered our marriage." she wrote on her facebook page
The senior Congress leader had acknowledged his relationship on April 30 last year after his and Amrita's photos found their way on the Internet. “She and her husband have already filed a mutual consent divorce case. Once that is decided we would formalise it,” he wrote on Twitter.
Rai had also accepted the relationship on Twitter, saying, “I have separated from my husband and we have filed a mutual consent divorce papers. After which I have decided to marry with Digvijaya Singh.”
Singh's wife passed away in 2013 after prolonged illness. He has four daughters and a son.
