Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will skip the tea party that is being organised by him. It's a customary tea party held at CM's residence before winter session of Assembly attended by leaders of all political parties.
According to a report published in TOI, State Congress President Manikrao Thakre confirmed the development and said that he had received a letter from the CM's office stating his absence for the tea party to be held at Ramgiri (CM's residence in Nagpur) on Sunday evening. The CM, however, added that his ministers would be present to welcome the opposition parties.
”This is for the first time in my career that the CM, despite being a host, is skipping his own function. There is no leader of opposition too, which is again happening for the first time,” said Thakre.
Congress has not taken any stand on whether to boycott the party. “Our senior leaders would be meeting on Saturday in this regard. But there's no point in attending the meet when the host himself is not there,” he said.
With PM Narendra Modi inviting all chief ministers to attend a meeting in New Delhi on Sunday, it is most likely that Devender Fadnavis will be in the National Capital that day.
