New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and social-activist Anna Hazare today congratulated Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal on trends projecting his party's landslide victory in the Delhi Assembly election.
Modi personally called up Kejriwal to congratulate him for his party's spectacular performance and assured him of Centre's full support to the AAP government.
“Spoke to @ArvindKejriwal & congratulated him on the win. Assured him Centre's complete support in the development of Delhi,” Modi said in a twitter post.
Whereas Anna said, “Arvind Kejriwal is going to become Chief Minister. My best wishes to him.”
When asked about results as reflection of the Narendra Modi government's performance, he said, “There was no Modi wave and still there is no such wave. Whatever he has assured, his government failed to fulfil in nine months.”
As per the Election Commission trend (at the time of filing this report), the AAP is leading at over 60 seats where election to elect 70-member new Delhi Assembly was held on February 7. The counting of votes is underway at 14 centres in nine districts of the national capital.
Polling was held after a year of President rule in the national capital. A voter turnout of 67.08 percent was recorded this time.
