New Delhi: As early trends showed AAP moving towards landslide victory, Kumar Vishwas on Tuesday said that the PM Narendra Modi failed to strike a chord with Delhiites this time.
"We will win today. Modi ji is a popular leader, the way he made the statements, it didn't go well with the people of the country," Vishwas told the mediapersons ahead of results being announced.
Another AAP leader Jagdeep Singh said that his party would definitely form the government in Delhi. "AAP is definitely forming its government. We will get around 45 to 50 seats," he was quoted as saying media reports.
Earlier five out of seven exit polls have predicted that the Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP may return to power once again in the national capital, with the second place for the BJP. The Congress, which ruled Delhi for 15 years, has been placed at a distant third.
Counting of votes for the high-profile Delhi Assembly polls in which the BJP and AAP are locked in a direct fight began at 8am on Tuesday. The Election Commission has made elaborate arrangements for the counting of votes. Counting will take place at 14 centers in nine districts of the national capital.
BJP's chief ministerial candidate Kiran Bedi was trailing by 1400 votes in 5th round from Krishna Nagar constituency. AAP is leading on 62 seats while BJP was a distant second with leads in 7 seats and Congress on zero. The Election Commission has made elaborate arrangements for the counting of votes.
A voter turnout of 67.08 percent was recorded in the polling for the 70-member Delhi Assembly. A total of 673 candidates are in the fray this time.
