New Delhi: Delhi chief electoral officer Chandra Bhushan Kumar has directed DMRC to give equal opportunities to all political parties and candidates while offering space for poll advertisements on its various sites.
"The representatives of DMRC have confirmed that they are giving fair opportunities to all the recognised political parties as far as allocation of space for advertisements is concerned," officials said.
Bhushan gave similar directions to transport authorities for political ads on public utility vehicles subject to the adherence to local laws and related directions of the court.
Meanwhile, according to a DMRC representative, as per the agreement signed by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) with the contractors of metro feeder buses, advertisement of political nature on them are not allowed.
On this, the CEO has instructed DMRC to issue necessary directions to the contractors of feeder buses to remove political advertisements displayed immediately, as doing so not only violates the terms and conditions of agreement made between the DMRC and bus operators but also amounts to the violation of Model Code of Conduct in view of the ensuing election of Delhi Legislative Assembly.
