New Delhi: Fearing a deluge of suggestions, the Delhi unit of the Congress has decided against going ahead with its plan of launching a blog to invite suggestions from people for drafting its manifesto for the Dec 4 assembly polls, a party source said Monday.

The turnaround is due to its apprehension of not being able to cope with the flood of suggestions on the proposed party blog, a party source told IANS.

“We will not launch the blog, though earlier we had decided to go ahead. It was a suggestion from one of the members of the party manifesto committee... but it will not happen now,” a member of the panel - wishing to remain unidentified - told IANS.

“Since a number of people would post blog entries, it would be difficult for us to cope with their demands. We could not have included every suggestion in the manifesto,” another source said.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Aam Adami Party (AAP) have stronger social media platforms than the Congress in the capital.

While the BJP has decided to invite peoples' suggestion for its manifesto, the fledgling AAP has announced it will prepare its manifesto by asking residents about the problem they face.

The capital is set to go to polls Dec 4.

Over 11.5 million voters will cast their ballots across 70 assembly constituencies in Delhi.

The main battle will be between the ruling Congress and the BJP, which has been out of power for the past 15 years.

The contest has been further enlivened this time with the entry of the Aam Adami Party which has gained popularity within a short span of time and has been vociferously campaigning against both the BJP and the Congress.
