New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Kumar Vishwas today announced that Arvind Kejrwial-led government will give the Leader of Opposition (LoP) post to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Delhi Assembly.

''Even if BJP gets less than seven seats we will give LOP to BJP. लोकतन्त्र स्वीकार से चलता है,” Kumar Vishwas said in a twitter post.

As per the rule, a party need to bag at least 10 per cent seat of the total number of chairs in the House. The Election Commission trends show that the BJP will be getting 3 seats in the 70-member Assembly.

At the time of filing this report, the AAP has so far won 39 seats and leading on 28 seats.

The BJP after winning the Lok Sabha elections last year had refused to give the Leader of Opposition post to the Congress which bagged only 44 seats in the Lower House of the Parliament. The Congress fell short of the required 55 by 11 seats in the Parliament.

Vishwas further said that people of Delhi did not strike a chord with Prime Minister Narendra Modi this time.

A voter turnout of 67.08 percent was recorded in the polling for the 70-member Delhi Assembly on February 7.
