New Delhi, Sep 22: There was commotion inside the high-security Vigyan Bhavan on Saturday when a Patiala House court lawyer Santosh Kumar Suman suddenly stood up on his seat, took off his shirt and shouted slogans “Bhrasht Pradhanmantri vapas jao (corrupt PM, go back), Diesel mulyavridhi vapas lo (Roll back diesel price hike)”.
Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh had just risen to go to the lectern to begin his speech, when the man began shouting slogans.
SPG personnel soon surrounded the man and took him out of the auditorium, with one SPG guard clamping his mouth shut.
Congress spokesperson Rashid Alvi described this as “part of a conspiracy by the opposition”, but he did not name the party.
Congress MP Jagdambika Pal said, there mut be a limit to voice dissent. “We can't allow anybody to denigrate the Prime Minister in the eyes of the world in this manner.”
