New Delhi: BJP is leaving no stone unturned to garner support of every section of the society ahead of Assembly elections with it today raising the problems faced by the Delhi Police personnel before Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh.

According to the party, there are around 85,000 Delhi Police personnel and out of which, more than 50 per cent have their names in voter list and there are over 1.5 lakh voters including their family members.

“Any political party has so far not raised the issues pertaining to the force. And, BJP has decided to also focus on them (police personnel) and try to woo them in order to get their support for the forthcoming Assembly elections,” said a BJP leader.

As a part of party's strategy, Delhi BJP chief Satish Upadhyay today urged Rajnath Singh to solve the problems of the force.

Party demanded that the duty hours of the Delhi Policemen should also be fixed so that they could be able to take care of their families.

In his letter to Singh, Upadhyay said, “During the tenure of Sheila Dikshit Government in the last 15 years, the PWD completely neglected the maintenance work of police colonies resulting in unsatisfactory conditions of basic amenities in the police colonies.”

He also said that there are double storey buildings in the largest police colony of Delhi, Kingsway Camp Police line but the condition of these houses is very pathetic.

According to the party, similarly the condition of basic amenities in the police colonies of Malviya Nagar, Hauz Khas, Andrews Ganj, R K Puram, Narela, Paharganj is not good.

“The maintenance of the Police Colonies should be immediately taken care of. The PWD should be given orders to maintain the buildings and sanitation work in Malviya Nagar, Hauz Khas, Andrews Ganj, R K Puram, Narela, Paharganj police colonies,” Upadhyay added.

The Delhi BJP chief also demanded that in view of shortage of land, multi storied flats should be constructed.
