New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and its youth wing volunteers today protested outside the residence of Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in New Delhi, demanding his resignation over the alleged irregularities in DDCA.
The protesters were seen holding placards and shouting slogans demanding Jaitley's resignation.
AAP MLA Jagdeep Singh, who was leading the protests, said that the Finance Minister must resign for his alleged role in the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) scam.
The police used water cannons to disperse the crowd after the AAP workers scaled the police barricades.
The protests come a day after the BJP protested against the AAP government's decision to institute a commission of inquiry into allegations of corruption in the DDCA, headed by Jaitley for 13 years till 2013.
The Delhi government has set up of a commission of inquiry, headed by former solicitor general and senior advocate Gopal Subramanium, to probe the DDCA scam.
Following a CBI raid in Delhi Secretariat in connection with charges against Kejriwal's Principal Secretary Rajendra Kuma, AAP has been claiming that the central agency carried out the searches to target the AAP chief and was looking for a file relating to alleged graft in DDCA.
Yesterday, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal had hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanding his resignation over what he called a 'flop' raid on his office by the CBI. He reiterated that the Modi government had set the CBI after him to shield Jaitley.
