New Delhi: The Delhi Commission for Women has written to the Home Ministry, the Delhi LG and city police commissioner on AAP leader Kumar Vishwas' failure to appear before it in a case in which a party volunteer accused him of not rebutting rumours of an illicit liaison with her.

The panel also complained that the AAP members were trying to disrupt proceedings in the matter.

"We have written to the Ministry of Home Affairs, Delhi Lt Governor Najeeb Jung and Delhi Police Commissioner complaining against AAP which has been for past two days sending their women party member and disrupting the case proceedings," DCW chairperson Barkha Shukla Singh said.

"This is really not done, we are here to help women in distress and redress their grievances. This kind act by AAP is maligning the image of the Commission. They have their government but that doesn't means that they can do anything," she said.

The DCW had first issued summons to Vishwas and his wife on May 4, asking them to appear before it by 3 PM, but Vishwas had not turned up saying he has not received any notice from the Commission.

Following this, DCW on Tuesday issued fresh summons to him to appear before it, and Singh in front of the television cameras had requested Vishwas to appear before them and help save the woman's family.

The complainant had accused Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Vishwas of being "very insensitive" and alleged that "Vishwas and Kejriwal were concerned about their dignity, what about mine and my family?"

Later, an altercation broke out between the complainant and another AAP volunteer who had come to the Commission. They both got into verbal duel after which DCW member and investigating officer in the case, Sudha Tokas had to intervene.
