Patna: Stating that it was Nitish Kumar's perception and social engineering that did wonders for the grand alliance, Jan Adhikar Party (JAP) chief Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav credited Kumar and not Lalu Prasad for the victory of JD(U)-RJD-Congress in the assembly polls.

"The credit for GA's win in the recently-concluded Bihar Assembly polls goes not to the RJD supremo, but to Kumar whose experience and his perception among the people, besides social engineering did the tricks at the hustings," he told reporters yesterday after presiding over a review meeting of the JAP's performance in the polls.

The Yadav-led JAP had fared miserably in the Bihar polls drawing a blank and polled barely over one per cent votes.

Dissecting the reasons for NDA's drubbing , the JAP president, who is a Lok Sabha member from Madhepura parliamentary seat, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi's emphasis on emotive issues more than development, raking up religious issues by its leaders who resorted to indecent

language against rivals, besides non-transfer of votes by the allies were among key factors responsible for under-performance of the BJP-led coalition.

On his own party's abysmal performance, he said the GA succeeded in creating a perception among the voters that the JAP was 'B-Team' of the NDA.

The JAP president regretted that he was in 'double mind' over joining forces with the Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) Secular led by former chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi and delayed taking the right decision in this regard.

Stating that he was not disheartened at his party's performance at the hustings, Yadav said JAP would hold organisational polls in early next year and fight for the people's issues.
