Coimbatore, June 17: CPI-M would soon launch a nation-wide campaign focussing on the corruption involving ruling politicians, bureaucracy and big corporates, its General Secretary Prakash Karat said today.

As the civil society and the government were busy discussing the Lokpal Bill, no political party or organisation had thought of exposing the nexus between the trio resulting in “large scale corruption” he told reporters here.

“Unless you expose the nexus between ruling politician, bureaucracy and corporates, you would not be able to tackle corruption,” he said adding the date for campaign would be announced at a meeting in Delhi soon.

Claiming that the government was not serious about the Lokpal bill, he said CPIM had already made it clear the draft of the bill, with a provision to bring the Prime Minister under its purview, should get the consent of political parties and placed in Parliament for passage.

He said CPIM wanted the government to create a separate National Judicial Commission, without bringing judiciary under the Lokpal, which could be the authority to appoint Judges and take up the cases against the Judges.

CPIM also wanted electoral reforms, mainly to check the use of money during elections, he said.

Accusing the new Government led by Mamata Banerjee in West Bengal of trying to eliminate the workers and members of CPIM, Karat said the party would launch a nationwide campaign from July 1 to highlight the “nefarious” designs of Trinamool Congress Government and seeking to end the violence and attacks on CPIM members.

Karat also alleged that the Maoists were colluding with Trinamool Congress in attacking the party workers. PTI
