CPI(M) on Saturday condemned the attempts by the Shiv Sena and the MNS to intimidate film actor Shah Rukh Khan and other personalities for speaking out their mind as "highly condemnable".
The Shiv Sena and MNS were engaged in destructive competition "to uphold their stand that Mumbai is only for Marathi-speaking people, and the latest example is the Shah Rukh Khan case," CPI(M) General Secretary Prakash Karat told a press conference at the end of three-day central committee meeting in Kolkata.
Alleging that the Congress-NCP coalition government in Maharashtra was pandering to the Shiv Sena and MNS, Karat said "we would like the state government to stop vacillation and take stern action against those issuing threats." "The Shiv Sena and the MNS are engaged in a disruptive game after having failed to secure support in the recent assembly elections," he added. PTI
