Haridwar: After accusing the ruling BJP of spreading ‘hate campaign' in the name of prevention of cow slaughter, the opposition Congress party was embarrassed by its own Chief Minister Harish Rawat who said that those who kill cows have no right to live in India.
The Uttarakhand Chief Minister Rawat added that those who slaughter cows are the country's biggest enemies.
"Anyone who kills cows, no matter which community he belongs to is India's biggest enemy and has no right to live in the country," Rawat said on Thursday.
Rawat noted that his government has already passed a proposal against cow slaughter and that his government will do everything to save cows.

"Law will deal sternly with those who kill cows in Uttarakhand and the state government will do everything for cow conservation," the CM said.
Rawat also counted that Uttarakhand is the only state which gives not only land for cowsheds but also helps in arranging for their fodder.
Cows, considered sacred by Hindus, have been at the centre of debate in the country for a long time.
India, being a union of states has different laws for cow and cattle slaughter in different states. While some states have completely banned slaughter of cattle including bulls, bullocks and buffalo, some haven't even banned cow slaughter.
In total, there are eight states and union territories where cow slaughter and sale of its meat is legal, two states where slaughter is conditional and sale is legal. Other 26 states and union territories in India have banned cow slaughter.
