Vadodara: Gujarat BJP today threatened to drag Congress to court alleging that the party workers had burnt photographs of national leaders printed in a book written by right wing activist Dinanath Batra during a protest here.
Congress workers held demonstrations here yesterday protesting against Gujarat government's decision to introduce books written by Batra, who is associated with RSS, as supplementary reading in schools in the BJP-ruled state.
As part of the protest, they burnt a copy of a book penned by Batra, which contained photos of the national leaders.
To denounce the Congress action, BJP activists today held a demonstration at Mahatma Gandhi Nagar here. “We are considering legal action against Congress workers for burning photographs the national leaders,” Gujarat BJP General Secretary Bharat Pandya told reporters.
Meanwhile, Congress city unit president Narendra Ravat claimed that they had burnt the pages of Batra's book and not photographs the national leaders.
