New Delhi, July 16: Congress today ridiculed Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh for his reported remarks that father should be punished if the son commits crime as the latter inherits the DNA and genes of the former.
“The Chief Minister reacted saying he was serious when the gathering before him laughed hearing all this. If the Chief Minister's seriousness is so ridiculous, then how dangerous his laughter will be,” party spokesperson Manish Tewari said.
Slamming the BJP leader's reported remarks while inaugurating the Chhattisgarh Science Centre in Raipur that with the development of science one can soon create “thousands of Aishwaryas and Abhisheks and that “even human organs are being developed in machines”, Tewari said that such “irresponsible” statements from a Chief Minister at a time when there is still a debate on the morality of human cloning is “unfortunate”.
“It is our good fortune that the honourable Chief Minister does not have in his hands the power to amend the criminal jurisprudence and formulate India's education and science policies. We are still concerned about the people of the country and hope that they will think over this kind of enlightenment by their Chief Minister,” Tewari said.
