Bhopal, Jan 19: Opposition Congress today slammed the BJP Government in Madhya Pradesh over a show-cause notice issued by the EC to Cabinet Minister Narottam Mishra for allegedly giving incorrect statement of poll expenditure incurred on paid news in the media.
It was “shameful” that a member of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan's Cabinet has been issued a show-cause notice by the EC for giving incorrect statement of election expenditure, Leader of Opposition Ajay Singh said.
“The EC's notice exposes yet again how the BJP came to power and formed the Government in 2008,” he said in a statement here.
This was not the only case of electoral irregularities involving a BJP leader.The election of BJP MLA Neena Verma from Dhar was annulled by Madhya Pradesh High Court in October last year, he said.
The Election Commission has issued a show-cause notice for disqualification to Mishra, Minister for Public Health and Family Welfare, Housing, Parliamentary Affairs and Law.
EC sources said on Thursday that an explanation has been sought from Mishra for expenses made by him during the 2008 Assembly elections.
