New Delhi: After its debacle in the recently held Lok Sabha elections, the Congress apparently intends to enthuse its cadre by revoking Nehruvian spirit besides appropriating Jawaharlal Nehru's legacy in his 125th birth anniversary year to rally all non-BJP, non-NDA parties together, using secularism as the platform.

With this objective, a two day international conference is being organized here starting from today to highlight the legacy and world view of the country's first Prime Minister Nehru.

The conference will be attended by a host of international leaders and representatives of various political parties from India and abroad. But Prime Minister Modi and his colleagues have been left out and not extended invitation, a move denounced by the NDA.

The parties, whose leaders have been invited include all Left parties, JD(U), RJD, JD(S), Samajwadi Party, Trinamool Congress and other "who believe in the idea of India" as espoused by Nehru, as a Congress leader put it.

BJP has alleged that the decision not to invite the Prime Minister reflected the narrow-mindedness of Congress.

Congress President Sonia Gandhi personally invited most of the party leaders including Bengal Chief Mamata Banerjee, with whom the Congress now shares a hostile relationship.
