Kolkata, Jul 3 : In the wake of CPI-M criticizing Centre's handling of the Lokpal issue, WBPCC today demanded that the Trinamool Congress-Congress coalition government in the state issue orders for special audit by CAG into the alleged irregularities in financial deals during the previous Left Front government.
“Let the new state government issue orders for special audit by CAG under Article 149 of the Constitution into all financial dealings including the sale of Kasba Gas Turbine, earth work during the construction of EM bypass, embezzlement of funds from Alipur Treasury and Waqf property scam and also land gift to a number of persons in the name of industrialisation during the 34-year Left Front rule,” WBPCC chief Pradip Bhattacherjee said.
Bhattacherjee was speaking to reporters after addressing a meeting of the party's minority cell which was also attended by AICC general secretary in-charge of West Bengal Shakeel Ahmed.
“After being routed in the recently held elections in four states and one union territory, both CPI-M and BJP have started extending lip service to a yoga instructor and a few self-styled messiah of civil society who are on their feet to wreck our parliamentary system from within,” Bhattacharjee alleged.
Addressing the meeting, Ahmed alleged that in the recently held assembly elections in West Bengal, BJP and CPI-M had helped each other to defeat Congress and Trinamool Congress candidates.“BJP had fielded candidates in all the 294 seats in a bid to cut into Opposition votes and help CPI-M during the recent assembly elections here,” Ahmed said.
He urged the party's minority cell to launch campaign across the state against BJP and CPI-M allegedly joining hands against Congress and Trinamool Congress combine in the state.PTI
