Bhopal, May 28 : Opposition Congress in Madhya Pradesh today strongly opposed the move of removing freedom fighter Chandra Shekhar Azad's‘kutia' (small thatched house) in Bhabhra town in Alirajpur district in the state.

The state government is constructing ‘Azad Mandir', his grand memorial on the premises, where the ‘kutia' stands and the district administration has removed the kutia as per the memorial plan.

Azad was born at this particular place, official sources said adding that the original house was in a dilapidated condition, following which, the local Gram Panchayat in the year 1970 constructed the present ‘kutia'.

The state Congress president Kantilal Bhuria, after visiting the place today, alleged that in order to capitalise on the sacrifice of the great revolutionary leader, the ruling BJP government had organised several programmes at his birth place.

“But by dismantling the kutia of Azad, the ruling party has proved how much respect it had such a great leader,” he said.

However, according to sources, the ‘kutia' will be recreated inside the memorial so that people can pay their respect to the place where the great leader was born.  The Congress also demanded an apology from chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan for dimantling the ‘kutia' of Azad as it amounts to disrespecting the freedom fighter.
