Lucknow, Nov 11: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who made an unscheduled visit here to attend a party workshop, today said youths will be given priority while distributing tickets for the 2012 Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh.
Rahul landed at Amausi airport and directly headed towards Anandi water park on the city outskirts where a leadership development workshop was organised by the Youth Congress, central zone.During interaction with the workers, Rahul said youths will be given priority while distributing tickets for 2012 Assembly polls in Uttar Pradesh, party members said.
Tickets would be distributed on the basis of their performance, he told party workers.
"Rahul gave the workers a lesson on discipline and talked about strengthening of the organisation," Youth Congress leader Yogesh Dixit told reporters after the meeting, adding that even they were not aware of his visit.
Meanwhile, ADGP Brij Lal told reporters, "No information either oral or written was given to the DGP or security headquarters about the visit of the Congress leader."
Later while returning to the airport after the meet, Rahul got stuck in a traffic jam. He was stranded at the busy Chinhat crossing for over 15 minutes.
The SPG and local police had a tough time getting the road cleared for the VIP.PTI
