New Delhi, Jul 24: BJP on Monday took a dig at the Congress over its stand off with NCP saying it did not know how to run a coalition and was busy placating allies while completely forgetting the ‘aam aadmi'.

The BJP also took a jibe at the Congress leadership which it said did not posses “statesman-like” qualities to run a coalition smoothly and was spending its time in firefighting.  It also charged the UPA with being a “total failure” and predicted that the ruling alliance would continue like this till the next elections due in 2014.

“Running a coalition is a very difficult exercise. We understand that. But you need a large-hearted statesman-like leadership which understands the mind of regional parties who are with you in the alliance,” BJP spokesperson Nirmala Sitharaman said.

She said, “We are proud to say that 23-party NDA alliance had less trouble, had troubles which were sorted out with a great deal of statesman-like approach and more importantly the troubles never affected the common man.

“Today they are spending more time in sorting out the differences and keeping alliance partners happy, completely forgetting the aam aadmi. This is like hitting the roof.”

Sitharaman said it was not fair to make a comparison between the UPA and NDA as the common man has become the victim of controversies within the UPA.

“There is absolutely no governance agenda, no coordination among alliance partners and therefore to compare or to even comment on this is just not fair....

“The UPA and its alliance is a total failure. Governance is gone, alliance partnership is gone. They are just doing last minute fire fighting everytime an alliance partner is in discord and they are just going to continue like this till 2014. You cannot expect anything more,” said Sitharaman.
