Saharsa (Bihar), Mar 17: The JD(U) today criticised the Centre for discriminating against Bihar and adopting ‘double standards' in sanction of special packages to the states.
“Centre has been consistently discriminating against Bihar by not considering the demands for coal linkages for thermal power plants and special assistance to compensate for financial losses arising out of bifurcation of the state,” he told reporters.
The state government has been seeking coal linkages for the thermal power plants and special assistance to make up for the loss of natural resources and industries that went to Jharkhand after the division of Bihar, Yadav said.
Centre was also guilty of adopting double standards in considering special packages to the states and said that it has generously considered demands for some states for packages and rejected that of others, the JD(U)leader said.
