New Delhi: Parliament was on Wednesday adjourned sine die after sitting for more than 30 days for its budget session.

During the session spanning over two months with a month's break in between, the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha passed the finance bills and took up for consideration many important bills like the land acquisition bill and the Goods and Services Tax bill.

The first phase of the budget session was held from February 23-March 20. In the second part, the Lok Sabha functioned from April 20-May 13.

The Rajya Sabha, which was prorogued after the first part, met again on April 23 and sat till May 13.

Rajya Sabha Chairperson M. Hamid Ansari said: "The session showed a distinct improvement in articulation of individual member's concern on matters of urgent interest. This was facilitated by rescheduling of the question hour."

"At present only five to six of the starred questions for the sittings are answered orally. This number can be increased if both members and minister adopt the practice of short crisp and focused questions and answer," he said.

Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan thanked the members and said though the house had lost some valuable time due to disruptions, it had been made up by late sittings and skipping the lunch
