New Delhi: The BJP has informed the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi Najeeb Jung that the party will not form the government in the state as it lacks the requisite number in the state assembly.
BJP legislature party leader Harsh Vardhan met the Delhi Lt Governor this evening and informed him of the party's decision.
Harsh Vardhan's meeting with Najeeb Jung lasted for nearly 40 minutes.
The Delhi polls threw up a fractured mandate with no party securing majority in the 70-member Assembly.
BJP, along with its ally Akali Dal's one seat, has 32 MLAs in the 70-member House while AAP has got 28 seats followed by Congress' eight. JD-U has won one seat while the Mundka seat had gone to an Independent.
