Jaipur: Exuding confidence over BJP expanding its base in the country, Union Minister Prakash Javadekar today said that the party would have its chief ministers in at least 20 states before the 2019 general polls.

"People have given the mandate to BJP...The party would have 20 chief ministers before next general elections in 2019," the senior BJP leader and Union MoS for Environment, Forest and Climate Change said here.

Optimistic about BJP's performance in the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections, Javadekar said the party would win with "full majority" and give a stable government to the people of the national capital.

"People welcomed Kiran Bedi joining BJP. Not only in Delhi...But people are joining the party in other states as well," he said at a press conference at the party office here.

On being asked whether Bedi would be projected as BJP's chief ministerial candidate in Delhi, Javadekar said it will be decided by the party leadership.

Asked if BJP will be able to have its chief minister in Jammu and Kashmir, where presidential rule is in force as no political party has the majority to form government, Javadekar said, "Things will come out soon".

Highlighting the works and achievements of the Narendra Modi government, he said that in the last 236 days, each ministry took numerous decisions.

"Inflation control was one of the major achievements of the government. People got relief from inflation. Cut in fuel prices was another big relief for people," he said.

Justifying increase in excise duty on diesel and petrol, Javadekar said it was a "balancing act".

The minister also targeted Congress and other opposition parties saying they were working in an irresponsible manner.

"Stalling proceedings in Rajya Sabha is a fine example of it," he added.
