New Delhi: The BJP may not have succeeded in its Mission 44+ in Jammu and Kashmir but the party is leaving no stone unturned in its quest to have its own Chief Minister in the state.

If sources are to be believed then the BJP is playing a ball with both Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as well as National Conference (NC). Party General Secretary Ram Madhav will be in Srinagar today to discuss possible alliance with both these parties.

BJP, the second largest party in the state with 25 seats, is presently working on two different formulas with both PDP and NC.

PDP is willing to seal an alliance with BJP but wants the CM post, as it is the largest party with 28 seats in the assembly. The BJP, on the other hand, is proposing a formula under which both the parties will share post of Chief Minister (CM) for 3 years each.  The PDP is reportedly not very enthusiastic on this formula but the party has not ruled it out completely.

The saffron party looks anxious to have its own CM in the state. BJP has opened a line of communication with NC after Omar Abdullah in a TV interview said that he is open for an alliance with BJP as well.

The former CM, however, added that the chances of the alliance were not more than 1%.  Political pundits, however, saw it as NC's softening stand towards BJP.

The BJP wants CM post and is willing to accommodate Omar in Modi's government at the centre. Since Omar has publically said that he is open to do business with BJP, the saffron party is working hard to convince him of the merits of the formula.

The shape of final alliance will emerge today in the evening after Ram Madhav's meeting with NC and PDP leaders.

In any case, the BJP believes it to be a win-win situation for the party in the state.

For the first time, the party looks all set to taste power in J&K unless PDP, NC and Congress join hands to form the government which looks highly unlikely under present circumstances.
