Chennai: Barely two weeks left for the September 18 civic polls, the Tamil Nadu BJP has said that it would seek votes by promising good governance in the mould of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in local bodies.

“Narendra Modi's good governance [we will brought] in municipalities,” this will be our poll slogan for the local body elections, Tamil Nadu BJP president Tamilisai Soundararaj told reporters when asked about her party's campaign theme.

Elections are being held to the posts of Mayor in the municipal corporations of Coimbatore, Tirunelveli and Tuticorin.

Also elections are on for the posts of municipal chairpersons in eight municipalities including Pudukottai, and Connoor and councillors in several local bodies.

When asked how her party would take on the might of the ruling AIADMK, she said her party would work and regain the lost ground of national parties in Tamil Nadu.

The BJP's allies, the DMDK and MDMK except the PMK have announced that they would support the Saffron party and would not participate in polls.

Asked about the PMK's stance, Tamilisai said the Ramadoss-led party was with the NDA and “you need not have any doubts about it.”

Barring the BJP, only the Left parties the CPI (M) and CPI alone are in the poll fray as the DMK and its allies have also boycotted the polls.
