New Delhi, Jun 21 : BJP today announced that the party would launch a four-day agitation from June 23 against the UPA government's alleged inaction in combating corruption, black money and the “barbaric dictatorial attitude” of the government.
“BJP will launch a mass campaign programme at 100 places across the country from June 23, the death anniversary of party founder Shyama Prasad Mookerjee, and it will continue till June 26, the anniversary of National Emergency,” BJP national vice-president Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said.
The opposition plans to hold meetings, rallies, seminars, street plays, and public awareness programmes which will be attended by national and state leaders.
“Congress and the UPA government are using the issues of psuedo-secularism and communalism to divert attention from their crimes of blackmoney and corruption,” Naqvi said.
Senior leaders from the Centre will attend the agitation in different parts of the country on these four days. The list includes L K Advani, party president Nitin Gadkari, Sushma Swaraj, Murli Manohar Joshi, Rajnath Singh, M Venkaiah Naidu, Ananth Kumar and Naqvi.
Referring to allegations of some Congress leaders that activists like Anna Hazare and Baba Ramdev are RSS and BJP agents, Naqvi said, “The government is busy acting as an arrogant dictator to crush and deliberately defame agitations and issues against graft and corruption.” The BJP campaign is aimed at exposing the government on these issues, he said.
Another campaign would be launched in July and continue till August. PTI
