Indore, Oct 25 : Taking strong exception to Jammu and Kashmir interlocutors' panel head Dilip Padgaonkar's remarks about involving Pakistan to resolve the decades-old Kashmir problem, BJP today asked the Centre to clarify certain issues.
Padgaonkar, a veteran journalist, heads the three-member panel appointed by the Centre for talks with various sections of the state.
"Prime Minister Manmohan Singh should immediately specify the extent of limit and authority given to these interlocutors for holding dialogue on the vexed issue," BJP spokesman Tarun Vijay told PTI here.
"Are they authorised to hold dialogue with Pakistan besides the separatists of Kashmir?" he said.
Vijay wanted to know whether the interlocutors are acting as advisers or have been authorised to take decisions on Kashmir issue on behalf of the government.
The BJP spokesman also wanted to know whether the Centre has given powers to them for restoring pre-1953 status to Jammu and Kashmir.
It appears that remarks by Padgaonkar, coming just before American President Barack Obama's India visit, have been given made US pressure, the BJP leader said.PTI
