New Delhi:  BJP today took stock of its Bihar assembly electioncampaign at a meeting of its general secretaries chaired by party president Amit Shah and claimed that it had been able to reach out to most of the 1 crore new voters in the state and over 84 lakh of its new members.

There was a general feeling in the party that BJP-led NDA was ahead in the campaign and had "succeeded" in making development the main agenda of the crucial assembly polls, party soucres said.

The stock-taking came as Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed last of his four rallies in four different corners of the state before the election dates are announced.

The meeting was also attended by union ministers J P Nadda and Piyush Goyal. While Nadda is a member of the party's parliamentary board, Goyal is its treasurer.

BJP secretary Shrikant Sharma said their campaign will spread with rallies planned by key party leaders at nine commissionaries and all 243 assembly constituencies.

"We have succeeded in making development a poll plank while our rivals wanted to centre it around casteism and communalism," Sharma said, attacking JD(U)-RJD alliance led byChief Minister Nitish Kumar and Lalu Prasad.

Sharma said 'Swabhiman Rally' organised by the grand alliance on Sunday showed that Prasad for all purposes was its main leader with Congress chief Sonia Gandhi being reduced to a "guest artist".

BJP believes that the bigger profile taken by Prasad in the rally, where he spoke last, would come handy in its campaign as it questions Kumar over his ability to provide an effective government in alliance with Prasad.
