Patna: BJP today slammed the former Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for using inappropriate language against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and central ministers from Bihar during his ongoing ‘Sampark Yatra'. The party also alleged that Kumar was doing so out of frustration after not getting desirable response from the people to his pre-election tour.
“There has been no positivity in Kumar's discourse with the people during his ongoing Sampark Yatra beginning from Bettiah on November 13 as he has concentrated on one-point agenda to criticise Prime Minister Modi,” Leader of Opposition in legislative assembly Nandkishore Yadav said in a statement.
The former Chief Minister has appeared to have lost his cool and got frustrated upon not getting desirable response from the people at different venues of his tour by describing the union ministers from Bihar as ‘cut piece' ministers, he said.
Kumar was always known for his demeanour and use of balanced language in public life, but the manner of his concentrated attack on the Prime Minister and union ministers from Bihar clearly pointed to his depressed frame of mind, the senior BJP leader said.
Yadav counselled the former chief minister to refrain from making baseless allegations against Modi and the NDA government and instead highlight achievements of the JD (U) government, if any, since the ruling party broke way from the BJP-led NDA last year.
Unfortunately, Kumar has nothing positive to drive home among the people about the JD (U) government with spate in crime, stalled development and lack of investment being noteworthy events of past 17 months, the Leader of Opposition in the legislative assembly said.
Yadav took potshot at the senior JD (U) leader for taking high moral ground to quit the chief minister's post by owing up responsibility for his party's debacle in general elections early this year, but put aside morality to name
Jitan Ram Manjhi as his successor with an eye on vote bank, he said referring to Manjhi's mahadalit background.
The senior BJP leader also hit out at Manjhi for not discharging his duties in larger public interests and said that he has been making one announcement after other since taking over as the Chief Minister in May this year.
Yadav also accused the chief minister of jeopardizing social amity by making controversial remarks, he said referring to Manjhi's consistent assertion that the dalits and tribals were indigenous people, while the upper caste people were foreigners of Aryan descendants.
With the chief minister Manjhi is set to release his government's final report card on November 25 next, the BJP leader asked the state government to refrain from taking credit of works done by the erstwhile NDA government and highlight those achievements which it has attained since parting ways with the BJP.
