In the 2008 assembly elections, BJP led by chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had won a landslide majority of 143, with Congress becoming the main opposition with 71 seats. BSP had then won 7 seats and others 9.
Vote share wise, BJP this time is expected to secure 40 per cent, and Congress 36 pc, followed by BSP with 8 pc and Others 16 per cent.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan leads with 56 per cent in the poll conducted for the person best suited for the top post in the state. Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia comes second with 23 per cent.
In the PM candidate ratings, BJP's Narendra Modi leads with 59 per cent, followed by Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi with 16 pc.
