New Delhi, May 10 : In a strong reaction to Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani's statement on Osama bin Laden, BJP on Monday asked the country to first look within on the issue of terrorism as it had been "caught with its pants-down" in the case.

"Gilani's reaction is under the shame and irritation after Pakistan was caught with its pants down. It has been exposed in the comity of nations on the issue of terrorism,"

BJP Chief spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad said. He maintained that it was time for Pakistan to introspect on the issue instead of adopting a belligerent attitude towards India and the US.

"Pakistan should look within. It should stay within its limits. While it is talking about combating terror, its military has been acting as a patron of terror," Prasad said.

BJP also asked the US to ponder over its relations with Pakistan as it had pumped in so much money in that country which had seen dictators like Ayub Khan, Zia-ul Haq and Pervez Musharraf rule over it for years.

"Pakistan is the epicenter of terror and a failed state," Prasad said.

Gilani today sought to turn the tables on US, asking who was was responsible for the rise of al-Qaeda chief.

"We cannot be blamed for flawed policies and blunders of others. Pakistan is not the birthplace of al-Qaeda. We did not invite Osama bin Laden to Pakistan or even to Afghanistan," he told the National Assembly, a week after the US operation that killed bin Laden in his safe house in Abbottabad, not far away from here.
