New Delhi, Jun 18: Congress on Friday accused the BJP of playing "opportunistic politics" on the Lokpal issue and asked the opposition party to clear its stand on the subject.
Congress general secretary Janardhan Dwivedi lamented that despite being a major national party, the BJP has not got any view on the Lokpal and was only playing "opportunistic politics" in the matter.
Dwivedi, who is also Chairman of the AICC Media Department, alleged that the BJP has always been opportunistic as it gave up its policies and principles when it came to power heading the NDA.
“It is the character of the BJP to give up its issues for the sake of power. It knows fairly well that its pet issues do not give it popular mandate,” he said. PTI
