Chandigarh: Buoyed by its performance in the Lok Sabha polls, senior BJP leader and Union Minister Rajnath Singh Sunday asked party workers in Haryana to make an all-out effort to realise ‘Mission 60-plus' in the upcoming State Assembly elections.
Singh exuded confidence that BJP will once again prove the political pundits and analysts wrong by forming the Government on its own in Haryana and hit out at the ruling Congress over its leaders' alleged involvement in land scams and corruption.
The tenure of the 90-member Haryana House will end on October 27 and the Election Commission hopes to complete the Assembly polls in the state before the third week of October. Haryana Janhit Congress (HJC) earlier this week decided to snap ties with BJP alleging repeated betrayal by the saffron party.
With an aim to garner all 90 Assembly seats on its own, Singh asked BJP leaders from the State to revise the number of their “Mission 46 plus (majority needed to form govt in Haryana) to Mission 60 plus now.”
The Minister was addressing a public gathering in Hathin in Palwal district in Haryana on the culmination of the BJP's ‘Vijay Sankalp Yatra.'
He slammed the Congress, saying the party does not have any issue to raise and therefore, keeps crying hoarse over the post of Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha. “They do not have any issue to raise.
But they always keep raising the issue of Leader of Opposition post. They must know for this, they need 10 per cent minimum seats,” he said. Mocking the Congress, he said, “Jab kad hein naheen raha, lekin pad unko chahiyee (they have lost stature, but they are adamant on the post).”
Singh slammed the Bhupinder Singh Hooda led Government over alleged land scams, corruption, incidents of violence against women and “deteriorating” law and order in the state.
“I have read about (Hooda govt's) ‘No. 1 Haryana' campaign in newspapers and other media...they are throwing dust in the eyes of the people. Actually, the state is No. 1 in incidents of chain snatching, poor law and order situation, land scams, corruption, rapes. Congress is befooling people and playing with their sentiments,” he alleged.
Singh attacked the Congress for allegedly trying to divide the people on communal and caste lines. He said earlier Haryana was a leading agrarian state, but under the Congress rule the youth are facing unemployment and farmers are not getting good price for their produce.
On the pattern of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, the Government has announced Gram Sichayee Yojna. “We will ensure water to the fields of farmers at tail ends,” he said. Among others present at the rally were Union Minister Rao Inderjit Singh, BJP national secretary Sudha Yadav and senior leader Jagdish Mukhi.
Responding to the demand put forward by Union Minister and Faridabad MP, Krishan Pal Gujjar, Singh assured that a paramilitary force recruitment regional centre will come up in Hathin.
Addressing the rally, Gujjar alleged that during the last 10 years, Haryana had witnessed “misrule” of the Congress. He claimed that all major development projects like IIM, AIIMS extension, investments by top companies including Maruti had gone to Rohtak region.
“When they have to seek votes, they dole out SOPs for various sections, but they cannot befool people. Some announcements which have been made recently by the state government will take effect from November 1, which means they are only befooling people as polls will be held in October,” he said.
Without naming Congress, Rao Inderjit Singh, who snapped four-decade old ties with the party before joining BJP this year, alleged they made every attempt to create fear psychosis among the minorities before the Lok Sabha polls. Jagdish Mukhi said that the BJP is getting overwhelming support and strong winds of change are sweeping.
Lauding the work ethics of Modi Government, Mukhi said, “the Prime Minister is in his office at 9 AM, so it is natural that his Ministerial colleagues will arrive five minutes prior to that. Senior bureaucrats will also reach well in time.
“Moreover, the Ministers have been given weekly targets and their work is periodically reviewed,” he said. He further said that the country's growth rate has touched close to six per cent. “It is a big achievement in 100 days of our rule,” Mukhi said.
