Lucknow/Patna, Oct 31 (PTI) The BJP today mounted pressure on the Congress for removal of Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan, whose relatives are among the members of the controversial Adarsh Housing Society in Mumbai.
"Congress leadership should immediately accept the resignation of Maharashtra Chief Minister Chavan without any delay and without wondering who his replacement should be," Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj told reporters in Lucknow.
BJP General Secretary Ravishankar Prasad said offering resignation to Sonia Gandhi was not enough and the chief minister should quit owning moral responsibility for the scandal.
"Mere offering resignation to Sonia Gandhi is not not sufficient, Chavan should resign owning moral responsibility for the scandal," Prasad told reporters in Patna.
"Chavan should immediately rush to the Maharashtra Governor and submit his resignation as it is a copybook case of nepotism and corruption," he said.
Prasad also demanded a time-bound and comprehensive inquiry into the entire issue by a sitting judge of the apex court.
