Amritsar: BJP candidate from Amritsar seat Arun Jaitely today claimed that his party may get 272 seats in the Lok Sabha polls.
On being asked whether the BJP have any contingency plan to change its prime ministerial candidate if the party failed to get a comfortable majority, he said,”I don't think that situation is going to arise. And we have not applied any mind space to this”.
He was replying to reporters after filing nomination papers here. Talking about the Aam Admi Party he said, “AAP were earlier claiming that that they were against the corruption but later it was proved that they were against Modi Now boom period of AAP is over”.
He also criticised the filing of case against Amit Shah, saying, “The first information report lodged against Amit Shah comes as a surprise to any student of law”.
“An appeal to the voters to take revenge against the incumbent government or the opponent because of its non-performance by voting against them is routinely done.
“The context in which the speech has been delivered has to be analysed. In this speech, Shah makes an appeal to the electorate to vote against someone and avenge the injustice.“I wonder which provision of law can such a speech violates since it is only an appeal to vote.”
Talking about his agenda for Amritsar he said,”When I talk on national issues, I always keep in my mind local issues related to my constituency. “Since city needed to be in the list of Tourism Circuit that will give better infrastructure besides improving the economical condition of the people. “For this I will involve state government as well as Centre to do the needful in this regard,” he said.
