Shimla, Oct 8: The BJP on Sunday denied tickets to former minister Dile Ram, who staged a rebellion announcing his decision to contest the Himachal Pradesh assembly election as an independent, and Vidhan Sabha Speaker Tulsi Ram.

Upset over the denial of ticket to him, Dile Ram, a sitting MLA from Nachan (SC) constituency, quit as the Mandi district BJP president and announced his decision to contest the election as an independent.

Members of the Nachan Block BJP Committee also quit en masse to protest denial of party ticket to Dile Ram.

Dile Ram said he had served the party with dedication and if it did not have faith in him, he had no reason to continue as district BJP chief.

”I will start my poll campaign from tomorrow,” he said.

The BJP today released names of 11 more party nominees for the November four Himachal Pradesh assembly election.

Jiya Lal would be the party candidate from Bharmaur in place of Tulsi Ram while greenhorn Vinod Kumar would contest from Nachan (SC) and Kullu constituencies, a BJP release said here.

The party renominated Tejwant Negi and Col Inder Singh from Kunnaur (ST) and Sarkaghat seats respectively and gave ticket to associate member and sitting MLA Hira Lal from Karsog (SC).

It decided to field Ram Kumar from Haroli seat, Sheela from Solan-SC, Rajinder Garg from Ghumarwin and Balak Ram Negi from Rohroo-SC, all new faces.

The BJP had released the first list of 45 candidates on September 28.

With the announcement of 11 more contestants, the party has so far declared candidates for 56 out of 68 assembly seats.
